TAIWAN, 17 JUNE 2023 - Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) was invited to attend the Seoul Accord General Annual Meeting at The Lin Hotel, Taichung City on 17th and 18th of June 2023. Prof. Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, President of MBOT attended the meeting, representing MBOT as a provisional signatory of Seoul Accord.
During the meeting, Prof. Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah highlighted MBOT's interest in joining the committee responsible for enhancing the governance and regulation of the Seoul Accord. Prof. Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah also mentioned that it is expected for MBOT to become a full signatory by the first quarter of 2024. She emphasized MBOT's dedication to meeting the required criteria and standards set forth by the Accord.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Md Fauzi Md Ismail, Registar of MBOT, Ts. Dr. Nor Aznan bin Mohd Nor, Director of Technology and Technical Accreditation (TTAS) MBOT and other representatives of provisional signatories. Their presence added valuable insights and perspectives to the discussions during the meeting.
The Seoul Accord provides for mutual recognition of graduates of accredited programs among the Signatories of the Accord. This global recognition will give a positive impact in program quality assurance, while increasing the marketability and industry acceptance of graduates generated by the programs. The accord was established in 2008 with 9 countries being full signatories and 8 countries being provisional signatories, including MBOT from Malaysia.
