Introduction
The Technology and Technical Professional Development Council (TPDC) was established by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) to oversee the quality assurance and recognition of short courses, training programmes and eligible skills-based programmes through the Professional Development Certification (PDC) and Professional Technical Certification (PTC).
The establishment of TPDC is pursuant to Section 6(2)(g) of the Technologists and Technicians Act 2015 (Act 768), which empowers the Board to establish councils for the quality assurance of programmes in the field of technology.
The Role of TPDC
- Professional Development Certification (PDC)
Recognition of quality-assured training programmes, short courses in the technology and technical sectors that meet MBOT’s established standards and requirements .
- Professional Technical Certification (PTC)
Recognition of eligible skills-based programmes under the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) mapped by MBOT in collaboration with the Department of Skills Development (JPK).
Introduction
The Technology and Technical Professional Development Secretariat (TPDS) serves as the secretariat to the Technology and Technical Professional Development Council (TPDC) under the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).
TPDS manages and coordinates the implementation of the Professional Development Certification (PDC) and Professional Technical Certification (PTC).
The Role of TPDC
- Managing PDC and PTC applications.
- Coordinating programme evaluation and certification processes.
- Supporting TPDC meetings and decisions.
- Providing guidance to training providers and relevant stakeholders.
- Conducting briefings, training sessions and workshops.
- Monitoring recognised programmes for continuous quality improvement.
